ABOUT ME

IMG_6910.JPG

Aliyah English grew up in multiple states due to being a military child. She realized that she had the chance to see different places around the U.S. and experience opportunities that her non-military friends didn't have. She documented these family memories with her disposable camera from an early age. She always made short vlogs discussing her day and uploaded them to YouTube.

As a child, she used to watch the Behind-the-Scenes features on DVD's and became engulfed in the world of film. She wanted to know how a movie came together step by step.  She would always take her camera to school and document the day and this quickly caught the attention of her 5th grade teacher. She recommended her as a director for the school news and she finally had a taste of what she wanted to do when she "grew up". This hobby quickly turned into a passion throughout her adolescence.

Serious about making that passion into reality, Aliyah took a 2 year TV/Video Production class and a 1-year Radio /Audio class that aided in building her portfolio and expanding her knowledge of the entertainment industry. Her 1st film, "Suspended: A Parody of Expelled", was featured in the Southern Maryland Film Festival in 2015 and again in 2017. Other credits include

  • Various AUDL (American Ultimate Disc League) DC Breeze games (2022)

  • Four Year Strong's "Seventeen" Music Video (winner of music video contest; 2020)

  • The Southern Maryland Scene documentary (2020)

  • The Voice of Millions documentary (2016)

Her overall career goals are to be a touring videographer for artists and work for National Geographic, VICE , Blumhouse Productions, Walt Disney Studios, Bad Robot Productions or A24 as a Director of Photography. Her overall career goal is to direct a feature-length film that is shown at Cannes Film Festival, Sundance Film Festival or South By South West Film Festival. She is a graduate of Full Sail University, proudly earning a B.S in Digital Cinematography and FSU's class of 2018's Salutatorian.
